Paul Simon Personal Letter 1964

A Paul Simon original typewritten letter to his UK friend “Dolly”, Simon asking about a future trip to the UK & the possibility of fixing gigs at the Troubadour, sold with provenance (ex-Sotheby's, part Lot #206 14/9/94). This is an important document & was the one specifically quoted in the Sotheby's catalogue: "Art & I just finished playing the Gaslight. Our album came out last week. Nothing else of interest is happening as I'm pretty tied up with school...". The album mentioned, was the debut by Simon & Garfunkel, "Wednesday Morning 3 A.M.", containing the iconic track "The Sounds of Silence". The album was released in November 1964 which dates the letter to this period. A fascinating early insight into the life & career of one of America's most famous musicians.
