10 Los Angeles Free Press Newspapers 1973

Ten Los Angeles Free Press underground newspapers from 1973 (Vol 10 No’s 12-19, 21 & 23)

The Los Angeles Free Press was founded by Art Kunkin in 1964 & he remained with the paper to 1973. The paper was regarded as the first & largest of the counter-culture publications that flourished in the late 1960's-early 70's in the US & UK. It was known for the radical politics, championing individual freedoms & of course its anti-Vietnam War stance. Each edition is approx about 50-pages long. Apart from the political tracts you can expect adult cartoon strips, lots of music content (reviews/interviews/record & gig adverts etc), film articles & lots of pages of sex industry adverts etc.

Front-page articles in this batch include Supervisors Make Pay Off, Watergate Murders, Women Boycott Meat, Courts Are Bugged, Sex & The Divorced Mother etc. This collection represents a fantastic time capsule of the LA counter-culture scene at the time.

Condition is generally very good: a few minor nicks/creases but everything complete (ie, no cut-outs) & clean.

NB. A supplementary P&P charge for overseas buyers may be required.
