Performers on the night included David Bowie (with the Pet Shop Boys, Michael Jackson, Pulp, Take That, Simply Red & Alanis Morrissette. This was the occasion that Pulp's Jarvis Cocker famously "mooned" at Michael Jackson. As a taste of things to come, Oasis won three awards: "Best Album", "Best Group" & "Best Video" & had a full-page ad in the programme too.
