David Bowie Space Oddity Poster 1969

Scarce early piece of David Bowie memorabilia, the "Top 50" UK record chart poster (11"x 15") for the week of 1st Nov 1969 showing Bowie at #5 with "Space Oddity".

Although Bowie had been releasing singles since 1964, "Space Oddity" was his first commercial hit. Originally released in July '66, the single was re-released several months later & began rising in the charts. Bowie appeared for the first time on TV's "Top of The Pops" on 9th Oct & "Space Oddity" finally peaked at #5, as per this record shop poster!

Although "Space Oddity" would have provided the masses with their first exposure to Bowie, it took him another 2 1/2 years to properly establish himself but thereafter global stardom beckoned. This poster, however, provides an important & seminal milestone in Bowie's career. An excellent early piece of Bowie memorabilia that would look great framed.
