George Harrison Attack Newpaper Poster 1999

An original Reading Evening Post newspaper stand poster (16 1/2"x 23") headlining the attempted murder of Beatle George Harrison, dated 30th Dec 1999.

On the night of 30th Dec a mentally ill man broke into Harrison's Friar Park mansion near Henley intending to kill the ex-Beatle. Harrison confronted his assailant & was stabbed several times in the chest. His wife, Olivia, bashed the attacker over the head with a lampshade, incapacitating him. Harrison was hospitalised but recovered. The attacker (an ex-mental hospital patient) was charged with attempted murder but found not guilty due to insanity. He was sectioned indefinitely but is now believed to be rehabilitated. A poignant piece of memorabilia that hints of the downside of great fame.

Poster creased with small edge nicks.
