Rare Hooker Mayall Blues Gig Flyer 1964

Original concert flyer (printed - 8"x 10") for John Lee Hooker backed by John Mayall's Bluesbreakers to play a gig 3rd June, 1964.

This is an important little slice of American /British Blues/RNB history: it marked John Lee Hooker's first UK Tour & this was almost certainly the first gig of the Tour, held at the Flamingo Club, London. The influence of the American Blues artists like JLH on emerging British 60's musicians was huge. Visa restrictions often meant UK bands provided the backing band for these "tourists", as in this case. The potential for cross-ferilisation was enormous, bands like John Mayall's, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones etc all drawing inspiration from the visiting American Bluesmen. The amateur nature of this flyer suggests that the Tour was very low budget.
