Led Zeppelin 1st Ever UK Gig Flyer 1968

Double-sided Marquee flyer (5 3/4"x 9") for Oct 1968 including the first ever gig by "Led Zeppelin" in the UK, on Fri 18th Oct 1968.

The front of the flyer references the forthcoming gig by "The New Yardbirds" & names the individuals in Jimmy Page's new band. To the reverse the printers refer just to "The Yardbirds" but acknowledge "The British Debut of...". "The New Yardbirds" was Page's preliminary name for his new band before the name "Led Zeppelin" was agreed. Following this gig on the 18th, The New Yardbirds played in Liverpool on the 19th but thereafter used the name Led Zeppelin.

Of further note the flyer also refers to "a very interesting young group "Free" who had a 4-gig residency at the Marquee in Oct, while other acts playing this month also included YES, The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Taste etc. Two forthcoming gigs by American Bluesman Muddy Waters in Nov '68 are also advertised.

Flyer folded, annotated with minor sun mark to front cover but a superb & seminal item of Led Zeppelin memorabilia.
