Max Wall Canterbury Poster 1982
Interesting "Aspects of Max Wall" poster (20"x 30") for a series of shows at the Marlowe Theatre Canterbury, June-July 1982.
Although belonging to the era of Variety Hall entertainment, Max Wall had an unusual conection with Punk: his risque anarchic brand of humour seemed to resonate & Wall has an early recruit to Stiff Records, releasing a cover of the Ian Dury song, "England's Glory" (Stiff BUY 12) in 1977. Dury became an admirer & invited Wall to open for him at his Hammersmith Odeon gig May 1978. Other Punk/New Wave fans of Wall included the journalist Danny Baker & Suggs from Madness.
Poster rolled with a 7" tape repair to upper but an interesting piece with connections to British Variety Hall entertainment (1940's-60's) & the very different world of 1970's Punk.
Nb. If bought alone, UK buyers will have £5 of the standard P&P charge refunded.
