Battersea Fun Fair Photo Bignell 1959

An original b/w silver print photograph (12"x 16") entitled "Battersea Fun Fair" by the London photographer John Bignell, the photo signed by Bignell & dated "1959" (printed later).

The photo shows two women & their boyfriends having fun at the fair with a Marilyn Monroe-esque "moment". Photo with the photographer's stamp to the reverse & mounted on black paper (16"x 19 1/2" overall). John Bignell was active during the 1950's-80's & principally a street photographer. A book of his photos entitled "Chelsea Photographer" was published in 1983.

This photo was acquired at the Sotheby's auction of Photographs, 2nd May 1997 & was part of Lot #487.
