Rare Banned Queen Opera Poster 1976

Rare banned Queen Elektra Records US poster (22"x 35") for "A Night At The Opera" (1976) promoting both the LP release & the World Tour of the same name.

According to one of the models, "A million years ago photographer Philip Dixon hired my sister and I to model for a risque rock poster. The band, Queen, the poster, A Night at the Opera, The year 1976. The poster went up in Tower Records on a Friday. By Monday they were pulled off the walls, banned and destroyed. There are very few left in the world". Although the 1970's were somewhat less politically correct than today, it is easy to understand why this design proved so controversial. The art directors responsible were Glen Christensen & David Larkham.

To poster is unfolded with general creasing, pin-holes to corners with minor paper loss to upper corner areas & a small part of upper left rim. Certainly not perfect but the poster displays well "as is" & is extremely rare (we are aware of only two such examples coming on the market in the past 20 years - one selling in 2018 for $900). A genuine Queen rarity.

NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers.
