Renaissance Giltrap Friars Aylesbury Gig Poster 19

Original Renaissance/Gordon Giltrap silkscreen concert poster (20"x 30") for a gig at Friars, Aylesbury, 30th Oct 1976.

For some reason this gig was cancelled. Life on Tour could be chaotic & throughout the 60's-70's, gig cancellations were not uncommon. However, something particular must have occurred as Friars suffered three cancellations in Oct '76, the Eric Burdon & Can gigs also being pulled. This was a shame as Renaissance had recently enjoyed a "Top 10" hit with their single "Northern Lights" & Giltrap had recorded "Top 30" hits with his single "Heartsong" & LP "Perilous Journey" earlier in the year. Fans of accomplished musicianship were denied.

For the uninitiated, Friars was a legendary music club in Aylesbury, active 1969-84. Posters/flyers from this venue have a common distinctive design & are very collectable (many more already listed on this website).
