Beatles Hey Jude Revolution Poster 1968

Rare Beatles "Hey Jude-Revolution" Apple records promo poster (incomplete).

This poster commemmorates the first ever Apple records release which took place on 30th Aug 1968. We do not believe that Apple released a promo poster themselves but at some point in the late 60's licensed a commercial release by Splash Posters Ltd & this is an original example of this poster dating from this time (modern re-prints are now readily available). This poster was trimmed at the top from the original 20"x 30" to 20"x 28 1/2" & mounted to board. It was displayed at an "Underground" shop at the time that sold josticks, pipes, posters etc. There is some paper loss & the text to the bottom right corner reading "Printed for SPLASH POSTERS Ltd by Burgess and Son (Abingdon) Ltd", is missing. To the left underneath the gold mount is the beginnings of the text "Pictures by DON McCULLEN. Designed by JOHN KELLY". The Beatles poster was superseded in later years & over-pasted with a gig poster, remnants remaining (this dating from "1972").

For an idea of relative value, in 2017 Heritage (US) sold a complete 20"x 30" example for $687 - £540) & in 2019 Julien's (US) sold one, though trimmed to bottom, for ($768 - £600).

A rare example of this Beatles poster from the very first print run c' 1968-69. Written provenance attesting to the above will be supplied by the owner of the shop where this was diplayed will be provided.
