Clash Stoke Mandeville Concert Poster 1982

Original Friars concert poster (20"x 29") for a gig at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, 12th July 1982.

This was a special charity event designed to raise funds for the Stoke Mandeville Olympic Village. Friars normally (at this time) held their gigs at the Aylesbury Civic Centre but the newly completed SM Stadium offered a larger capacity of 3,000, hence the change of venue. The special nature of the gig also resulted in a departure from the normal design of Friars gig posters, this example also printed on a semi-gloss paper.

The poster has fraying to left/right rims, corner damage including minor paper loss to corners & minor creasing but this is a rare poster (only the fifth we've seen in the market in the past 28 years). For an idea of relative value we've seen just three of these posters in the auction market (Omega & Bonham's) since 2020 (all sold 2020-22). Although the other three examples were in better condition than the one offered here, the average selling price has been £1,560 (inc Buyer's Premium).
