The Skatalites Ska Poster 1960's

The Skatelites (sic - Skatalites) generic poster (20"x 30") c' late 1960's.

The Skatalites were a Jamaican Ska band known for their 1967 hit "Guns of Navarone". Although The Skatalites played in the UK in 1984 they are not known to have played here before that date. This & the lack of concert details suggests this is a generic commercial poster rather than a gig poster. To the reverse is the hand-painted text "BOYCOTT ON". This suggests the poster has come from a college campus environment (boycotts & "sit-ins" being popular among students in the late 1960's). The mis-spelling of Skatalites is not particularly unusual: printers frequently made mistakes with "unfamiliar" band names ("Lead Zeppelin" & "Thin Lizzie" being others we've encountered). An unusual piece of 60's Ska memorabilia.

Poster folded & rolled with pin-holes to corners & a 3" conservation repair to split on upper mid rim. Still presents well & is a rare poster.
