Who Golden Earring Correspondence 1974
An original piece of correspondence from a US Record Importer to Golden Earring's UK representative urging the dispatch of Sample records in order to capitalise on The Bands exposure in the States as support to the Who. Marty Scott writes that he attended the first night of the Who's 4-night residency at Madison Square Garden (June 10th-14th) & reports that the Who's Sound system failed resulting in a "pissed off Townshend & Daltrey" (there was a huge backstage row after the first Gig). Golden Earring, however, were very well received. Townshend had also been particularly unimpressed by people in the front row shouting "Jump Townshend" & later recounted that, whereas in the past, his Stage mannerisms were natural, from this point onwards, he felt as if he were parodying himself. A fascinating piece which reflects on an important development in the Who's live performances.
