Waveney Swamp Coypu Underground Artwork

Two "Coypu" storyboard original artworks (15"x 19" approx) & an related large 14-page "Swamp Comix #1" (1979) counter-culture magazine.

Created by Mark Sparksman & based in Norfolk/Suffolk, the "Coypu" comic strip featured in the alternative press publication the "Waveney Clarion" which ran 1973-84. "Swamp Comix #1" was an ambitious "Waveney clarion" spin-off featuring artwork by Borin Van Loon, Tim Rayner & Meg Amsden with lots of "Coypu" content (further editions did not appear). The pen & ink storyboards correspond to page 9 & the back cover & both are on artboard. In addition to the "Coypu" strips were several others including a Sex Pistols inspired "Pink Rock Massacre". According to the artist Borin Van Loon "It caused something of a stir on publication due to my inclusion in a comic story about punk rock of some of the uncensored exchanges between Bill Grundy and members of the Sex Pistols on tea-time telly."

A fascinating collection of underground counter-culture material with rare original artwork & an interesting Punk connection too.
