Brett Marvin Thunderbolts Ealing Gig Poster 1973
Interesting original concert poster (22 1/2"x 28 1/2") for the eccentric British RnB band Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts to play a gig at the Ealing Tech Common Room, 4th May 1973.
Brett Marvin & THe Thunderbolts were a Crawley based band (1967-79). They had a surprising #2 hit *Aug 1972) with the single "Seaside Shuffle" released under the pseudonym "Terry Dactyl & The Dinosaurs". This was written by bannd member John Lewis who was later was reincarnated as Stiff Records artist Joana Lewie.
The Ealing Tech Common Room was part of the Ealing Technical College & School of Art. Ealing was a hotbed of musical activity in the 1960's the Ealing Club being frequented in the early 1960's by British Jazz & Blues artists & future members of The Rolling Stones & The Who. The Ealing Tech Common Room was known as the "Noisy Common Room" as it was used to host gigs & events for the students there. Fred Bulsara (aka Freddie Mercury) was a student at the college alongside others like Pete Townshend, Ronnie Wood, Tim Staffell & Roger Ruskin Spear. In 1969 Freddie was in a pre-Queen band called Wreckage who had their first gig in the Common Room on 31st Oct 1969.
