Joburg Hawk Norwich Gig Poster 1973

Original silkscreen concert poster (15"x 20") for the South African band Jo-Burg Hawk to play UEA University (Norwich), 1st May 1973.

"Banned in It's Own Country": Afro-rock band Jo-burg Hawk (1971-74) were a multi-racial group who de-camped to the UK/Germany/Scandinavia when public performances in South Africa became impractical. They were signed to Charisma Records for a while. The reference to "Horsham" on the poster refers to Horsham St Faith an ex-RAF base where first year UEA students were housed till 1994 (ie, not Horsham, West Sussex).

Poster unfolded with a tiny slither of paper loss to upper right rim. An interesting piece of Afro-Rock/South African/Political Protest memorabilia.
