Robert Plant Led Zep Marquee Flyer 1968
Double-sided Marquee flyer (5 3/4"x 9") for Feb 1968 with fantastic Led Zeppelin interest.
On 23rd Feb 1968 "Robert Plant & The Band of Joy" played the Marquee as a support band. With Plant in the Band of Joy was drummer, John Bonham. Not long after this gig, The Band of Joy disbanded, having failed to secure a record deal but just five months later, Plant auditioned for Jimmy Page's "New Yardbirds" band. Once recruited, Plant recommended Bonham to Jimmy Page & the basis of what was to become Led Zeppelin was in place. We believe this was the only time Plant appeared at the Marquee before Led Zeppelin were formed so it was obviously an important gig helping to showcase Plant's previously little known talents.
Other bands appearing at the Marquee during Feb 1968 were The Move, Jethro Tull, Jeff Beck, Edwin Starr, The Nice etc.
Flyer folded & with slight pen annotation.
