Tom Robinson Gay Rights EP Record 1978
A piece of social history here. This is a DEMO of the Tom Robinson Band Rising Free EP record, released on EMI 2749 in 1978. This featured the song, "Sing If You're Glad To Be Gay". The sleeve & labels have been stickered, indicating that this record came from the archive of "BFBS" (the British Forces Broadcasting service) & showing that the aforementioned track was banned for fear of causing offence. Whoever stickered the record took a dim view of this head office diktat, calling them "narrow minded".
A fascinating snapshot at a time in history when this breakthrough Gay Rights song challenged the social mores of the time.
The sleeve & vinyl grade VG/VG+. NB. UK buyers will have £5 of the standard P&P cost refunded on this purchase.
