Chappaqua Underground Cinema Poster 1966

Rare UK Quad cinema poster (30"x 40") for the Conrad Rooks counter-culture film "Chappaqua" (1966).

Charting Rooks experience recovering from drug abuse in France & with flashbacks to the underground scene in San Francisco, the film featured leading lights from the counter-culture movement including Allen Ginsburg, William S. Burroughs, Ravi Shankar, the psych-rock band The Fugs etc. The poster design is by Jack Tuckwood. Given the very progressive nature of the film it had niche appeal & therefore enjoyed only a limited release in the UK & the print run for the Quad was small.

Poster in scarce unfolded condition with general creasing, stains/marks to the reverse which do NOT show through, several conservation tape repairs to the reverse (longest 3 1/2" top left corner) etc. A poster that could be displayed "as is" or otherwise enhanced with restoration. Either way a rare UK Quad poster & a fabulous piece of underground memorabilia.
